Today the iconic Berkeley restaurant Chez Panisse survived a fire (SF Chronicle). Alice Waters, a pioneer of the local and organic food movement, started the restaurant in 1971. It went on to be named not only the best restaurant in America but one of the 50 best restaurants in the world. In an effort to help Chez Panisse bounce back our good friend and artist David Lance Goines of St. Hieronymus Press is donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of any of his extensive collection of Chez Panisse poster to the reconstruction. The month of April is your chance to get a beautiful, limited edition, hand-printed poster (often as many as 14 colors) and help the slow food movement get on the fast track to recovery. See the full collection on David’s website. Here are a few of our favorites to entice you.

Poster Offensive Show
There was a great turn out for Poster Offensive 6 at Big Table Studio. Here are a few photos. There are a few more on Flickr. And, a bit more detail about the show and our poster in a previous post. We printed a small edition of 25 but a few are still available at Big Table Studio and on Etsy.

Our poster “Freedom” with someone’s shadow driving the point home.

The man himself Mr. Peet Fetsch. Thanks for throwing another Poster Offensive show Peet.

I got caught pointing the camera at the capacity crowd. It was super packed so probably best in the end that no one invited the Fire Marshal.
Poster Offensive 6
Washington is in overdrive and has drawn the rest of the nation into the potent conversation about who should be running things and in which direction they should run. That means it’s time, once, again, for Poster Offensive. This year’s show promises 24 artists each expressing his or her take on any and all things political. From the future of marriage to the future of Big Bird, bayonets in the military and binders full of women in the White House. It’s all fair game.
We hope to see you November 3rd, 2012 for the show opening at Big Table Studio and the Amsterdam Bar (showing a retrospective of past shows). Bring whatever money you didn’t blow on a super pac and spend it encouraging local (and possibly outrageous) poster art. Below is a list of participating artists and a sneak peek at our poster entitled “Freedom”. If you can’t get to the show you can still get a poster on Etsy.

MN Local Poster Show Sneak Peek
Our poster for the MN Local Food & Beverage poster show is done, signed, sealed and delivered. It was great fun collaborating with Heidi Andermack (Boss Lady at Chowgirls) if kinda intimidating having learned that she is married to local type hero Chank Diesel. The easiest way to solve that turned out to be using his type (Dekapot Cyrillic and Eatwell) which provided the perfect Northeast texture. We printed an edition of 65 with three custom colors on French Paper’s yummy 110 lb. Speckletone Wine cover. Hope to see some familiar faces at the show. Until then here’s a sneak peek of our print.

MN Local Food and Beverage Poster Show Lineup

We’re excited to have been partnered with the Northeast Farmer’s Market for the MN Local Food and Beverage Poster Show. The show will open in conjunction with First Thursday in the Arts District – September 6th 2012 at Chowgirls Parlor. It’s sure to be a fantastic show. Check out the lineup of local artists and local deliciousness. And, check back in a few weeks for a sneak peek. The official show poste pictured here was designed by Spunk and printed by Big Table Studio.

Artcrank Minneapolis 2012 Sneak Peek

Just finished printing this year’s Artcrank poster. It’s called “Proud Papa” in honor of our newborn son Griffin Eames who joined us durring the process. Despite dragging junior along in a Burley bike trailer Dad wins the race with a surge of pride and the energy that brings.
Printed in a limited edition of 75 the poster is two colors on 19″x25″ Smart White 110 lb. cover from French Paper Company (and would make a great Father’s Day gift… I’m just sayin’). Look for it at the opening show which will be held April 14th, 2012 at Traffic Zone Gallery. Cindy, Griffin and I hope to see you there.
You can still purchase a Proud Papa print in our shop.

Scary Ink Poster Show
Just finished my first glow-in-the-dark screen print. It’s entitled “10-31″ which will make more sense if you look at it sideways. At 13×13 inches it’s a small poster printed in a small limited edition on super black Skin 100 lb. cover from Curious Papers for the upcoming Scary Ink! poster show at Big Table Studio. There will be a big opening reception and sale on October 29th. I’ve heard costumes are encouraged. Hope to see you at the studio: 375 Wabasha St N., St Paul, MN 55102. There are a few posters left. Drop us a line if you’re interested.
Big Table Studio’s Big Opening Night
Opening night at Big Table Studio boasted a great turn out not to mention some great poster art and delicious treats. The collection included prints from the Hamilton Wood Type collection and local artists like Adam Turman, Tooth, RedBlackBrown and many others. While the beer and Tank Goodness cookies are surely all gone it is worth the trip over to 375 Wabasha St N in Saint Paul to check the scene. Follow along via Twitter @bigtablestudio and stay tuned for the upcoming Halloween Poster Show.
